Wild West!

Wild West by K. Henderson

Wild West!, 36 x 36, oil on linen

As I reported recently, I’m painting a series of oils based on the American Indians that preformed in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. I’m using photos from the late 1800’s as my reference and inspiration.

But what would this series be without a painting of Buffalo Bill Cody?

I’ve painted a series of 1880’s Cowboys. This Cowboy wears the hat, vest, scarf and scarf slide typical of that time in the American West.

This painting will be available at the  Bosque Art Classic in Clifton TX

The Bosque Art Classic is an annual judged & juried art show & sale hosted by the BAC Art Council.  Over the years, it has become a national show which includes entries from international artists as well.  The show is currently in its 30th year.

The Lone Ranger Rides Again

Lone ranger
The Lone Ranger Rides Again, 40 x 30, oil on linen
I thought The Lone Ranger would be a good match for my Silver Screen Cowgirls series.

The Lone Ranger television series  ran from 1949 to 1957,  mostly starring Clayton Moore as the Lone

Ranger.

Buckaroo by K Henderson

Buckaroo by K Henderson

Buckaroo, 40 x 20, oil on linen

In the not too distant past, before computers and big screen TV’s we had small black and white televisions (or so I’ve been told). In the afternoons we watched The Lone Ranger, Zorro, Roy Rogers and a number of other Western Icons.

And of course we wanted to grow up to be just like our Western Heroes. The first thing we needed was a cool outfit complete with hat and a pair of Six Shooters.

This Buckaroo is wearing all the right stuff for an afternoon of fighting the bad guys.
